My name is Sema Sela and I feel privileged to be part of the team here at Family Therapeutic Wellness Centre. With an educational background in Psychology and Speech-Language Pathology, I bring a unique blend of expertise in both mental health and the mechanics of breathing, speech and airway function to my work as a certified Integrative Sleep Coach. Specializing in women and children ages two and up, I am passionate about helping individuals reconnect with restful, restorative sleep in a natural and sustainable way.

I focus on the whole person to address the root causes of sleep struggles and collaborate with medical providers to safely and effectively help clients reduce or eliminate their reliance on sleeping pills and aids. In particular, I work with clients who are experiencing difficulties such as insomnia, nighttime anxiety, frequent waking, or resistance to sleep.

My process is rooted in a combination of evidence-based therapies and gentle mind-body practices designed to calm the nervous system, shift unhelpful sleep habits, and create a healthier relationship with rest. In addition to addressing the psychological aspects of sleep, I also work with individuals who struggle with snoring and sleep apnea. My approach includes breathing retraining techniques to optimize nasal breathing and respiratory patterns, as well as face, jaw, and tongue exercises to strengthen the airway muscles and reduce obstruction. By integrating these modalities, my goal is to empower each client with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to sleep more soundly, wake more refreshed, and live more fully. Hello there! I’m Dr. Anthea, your new chiropractor at Family Therapeutic Wellness. I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and earned my Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC).

I have a special interest in pediatric, prenatal, and postpartum care, helping children thrive through key milestones and supporting new mothers with care and guidance. My practice style also general care for individuals of all ages and help older adults maintain mobility and confidence. My passion for pediatric and family care runs deep.

I’ve volunteered as a babysitter, at Sunday school and summer camps, and with families through the YMCA, Red Cross, and Distress Centre of Greater Toronto—experiences that shaped my commitment to supportive, growth-focused care.

I use a range of evidence-informed techniques including diversified and drop-piece adjustments, mobilizations, IASTM, soft tissue therapy, Webster technique, and cupping. My approach is holistic, collaborative, and focused on meaningful, lasting progress. Outside the clinic, I enjoy countryside drives, reading, working out, and spending time with close friends. You will be assessed in our office to determine the level of stability, type of support, function and fit that your orthopedic brace should provide and we will recommend the best brace for you based on our findings. We carry braces for back, knee, ankle, hip/pelvic, elbow, bunion, wrist, shoulder and more.

Custom Orthotics:

Are you suffering from bunions, plantar fasciitis, or inflammation in your joints?

Are you an athlete such as a runner?

Or a person who is on their feet all day at work?

Custom orthotics are custom medical devices that replace the insole of your shoe. They can allow for proper biomechanics while active and prevent knee, hip and back pain. The clinician will assess your posture, and gait and then take a scan or impression of each of your feet which will be sent to a laboratory for orthotic manufacturing.

Orthotics are usually back from the laboratory in ten days or less and then will be checked against your feet to ensure a proper fit. Special instructions on how to wear and introduce your new devices will be discussed and any questions will be answered.
